The approach to Lythwood Lodge is along a tree-lined country road that threads its way up through the hills of the KwaZulu Natal Midlands. As you climb towards this stately wedding and conference venue in the Lidgetton area, you pass old family farmsteads and a number of Midlands Meander attractions, driving through forests and over streams until you reach the lodge nestling in the crook of a curved hillside.
The original Lythwood Lodge was built in 1944 by Dr Pearson, as a grand farmhouse and refuge in the country. Its position is well chosen, looking back the way you came over the undulating country-side. With the forested, amphitheatre-shaped hill at your back and sweeping vistas before you, it is almost impossible not to relax.
The purpose-built 200 square meter Khaya Wedding Centre (names after the owner's spaniel) has two reception areas - the larger will seat up to 200ppl while the smaller holds up to 100ppl. The rooms can be opened up into one big hall that, with its lofty 4.5m high ceilings, is the perfect venue for Weddings. Externally there is a large patio that can allow for the seating for a further 100ppl and see through blinds and heaters ensure warmth for the occupants of that area even in the coldest of weather.
The décor has been sourced almost entirely from local craftsmen, as evidence in the imposing wrought-iron chandeliers.
Lythwood Lodge Wedding Centre has a back-up generator that ensures uninterrupted power. The upgrading of the facility is ongoing at Lythwood.
The chapel is unique having been converted from an old dairy. Its rustic character adds that element of solemnity that hallows the service.
Another option would be to have a Garden ceremony. Set in the beautiful gardens of Lythwood Lodge, this area brags beauty and tranquillity.
Cuisine is of paramount importance, and Lythwood's reputation for providing delectable food is second to none.

If recuperation is what you need, there is the on-site salon offering a number of fantastic treatments, including make-up for the big day, croquet on the front lawn, beautiful walks, and a huge selection of books and board-games from our library.
The Midlands meander is on our doorstep for those who enjoy shopping and meandering, and an excellent Golf course is nearby.
Lythwood sleep a total of 64ppl. Each room with a beautiful view, and each en-suite.
